Bavo & Yves
In close collaboration we cover different aspects of filmmaking from writing and producing to art direction and directing. We are happily married since 2012.
We think creative innovation doens’t need to come from a brilliant loner. In fact, we do believe that good things more often happen when people pair up and complement each other. That’s how we like to work together. While our earliest collaborations are short films, we have earned raves for our features North Sea Texas and Souvenir. Both movies were directed by Bavo, produced by Yves while both of us co-wrote. Our real hero, however, remains uncredited. It is that dizzying experience we call chemistry, or, the power of two.
As filmmakers, we love intense character development, strong female characters and stories about identity. An elegant ode to fading dreams and the possibility of second chances, our sophomore feature Souvenir (2016) channels Eurovision glamour into an unlikely romance, starring Oscar nominee Isabelle Huppert and César winner Kévin Azaïs. Our team won the Belgian Ensor Award for best costume design and a Best Director nomination. Souvenir premiered at TIFF 2016 and was closing night film of International Filmfest Ghent, Belgium. Our festival career went on with screenings at London, Marrakech and Miami Film Festivals. Pathé International sold our movie to over 35 countries.
